Supan is placed at the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD). Supan holds a Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Clinical Optometry. Prior to the HMIP, Supan gained five years of clinical experience practising in high-volume settings across metropolitan Sydney as well as regional NSW. Through his clinical work, he gained a strong appreciation for the complexity of the healthcare system and the challenges faced by both patients and clinicians alike.
These experiences sparked his interest in quality improvement initiatives aimed at addressing systemic barriers and improving how care is delivered.
Supan is excited to be part of the ACHSM Health Management Internship Program and is looking forward to developing his skills in leadership, project management and strategic thinking. He is keen to learn from experienced leaders and contribute meaningfully to initiatives that improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.
Outside of work, Supan enjoys running and going to the gym as a way to reset and maintain routine. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends and travelling when he can.
Kyra is placed with NSW Ambulance, where her first rotation is with the Learning & Development Team. Kyra graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in 2020 and has since worked as a scientific officer in a private pathology lab, providing a variety of services for patients and clinicians. In this role, she developed an interest in process and quality improvement with evidence-based practice to improve patient and clinician experiences and overall health outcomes.
In 2025, she completed a Master of Public Health and a Master of Health Leadership and Management through UNSW. This has helped develop her knowledge of health policy and using research to guide evidence-based practice, and has also reinforced her passion for ensuring equitable and timely access to healthcare for everyone.
Through the ACHSM HMIP program, Kyra is excited to further her understanding of our healthcare system and develop her leadership and management skills. She aspires to contribute to positive change within the healthcare system, ensuring better health outcomes for everyone.
Outside of work, Kyra enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and interacting with animals or reading a good book. She is an avid ocean swimmer and a volunteer surf lifesaver, and she recently completed her first Olympic-distance triathlon.
Justin is placed within the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) and he is looking forward to contributing ideas and practical solutions to challenges across these healthcare services and the communities they support.
Justin holds a Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) from Charles Sturt University, along with a Master of Health Leadership and Management and a Master of Global Health from the University of New South Wales. He has over seven years’ experience working as a Paramedic with both the London Ambulance Service (NHS) and NSW Ambulance based in Sydney. He is eager to utilise his clinical experience and education, to understand and support the day-to-day processes within health.
Outside of work, he enjoys travel, good food, staying active, and exploring new experiences. He has a strong interest in understanding health system integration and strengthening healthcare to be accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of communities.
Maha is an ACHSM Health Management Internship Program (HMIP) Intern, currently seconded from her role as Quality Improvement Implementation Lead at WentWest, Western Sydney Primary Health Network. She brings over 16 years’ experience across the health industry in quality improvement, healthcare project management, and stakeholder engagement.
Maha has led and supported major quality improvement initiatives, including Western Sydney Diabetes, Western Sydney Cardiology, and Urgent Care Services, and has presented at national forums such as the NINCO Conference. Through the HMIP, she is keen to strengthen her leadership and management capability and contribute to system-level change, with interests in patient-centred and integrated care, value-based healthcare, and preventive health.
Outside of work, Maha enjoys morning walks in nature, photography, spending quality time with family, volunteering, and putting puzzles together to unwind.
Angeline is a committed to the nursing profession and is currently working at the Far West Local Health District’s Balranald Multipurpose Service, a remote health facility located on the NSW–Victoria border. She has a strong passion for rural and remote health and has built her career around serving diverse communities across regional Australia.
Angeline holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has gained broad experience across rural community nursing, acute medical and surgical care, aged care, and intensive care. In recent years, she has expanded into management, where she has developed a deep appreciation for the complexity of healthcare systems and the importance of structures that support positive health outcomes. She is particularly interested in challenges unique to remote healthcare settings.
As a participant in the HMIP program, Angeline is enthusiastic about deepening her understanding of the broader healthcare landscape. She is committed to strengthening her leadership and management skills to contribute meaningfully to improved health outcomes for regional and remote communities.
Outside of work, Angeline enjoys sewing, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends. She also loves travelling and exploring new places.
Adam is a second-year intern with The Independent Hospital and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA). His first rotation this year is in the Pricing and Analytics Branch of the Agency, where he hopes to develop his technical and analytical skillset. Adam hopes this will compliment his previous experience across governance and hospital and aged care policy to develop a well-rounded project management, technical and policy-based skillset.
Adam holds a Bachelor of Science (majoring in pharmacology) and a Master of Nursing from The University of Sydney and Master of Health Leadership and Management from The University of New South Wales. Prior to the HMIP Adam has 4 years clinical experience working as a registered nurse specialising in cardiac and coronary care. His clinical experience has instilled an appreciation for the complexity of our healthcare system and a desire to create meaningful change, ensuring outcomes for patients and supporting healthcare workers.
Adam is enthusiastic about embracing his final year of the program, and is eager to continue expanding his understanding of our complex healthcare system and developing his professional network. Adam is particularly grateful for the HMIP, which has allowed him to understand his own strengths and interests while providing the resources and opportunities to create a well-rounded leadership skillset.
Outside of work Adam enjoys reading, MMA, hiking, snorkelling and spending quality time with friends and family.
Whilst completing the program, Umut is hoping to gain hands-on experience in health service leadership, operational management, and whole-of-system integration.
Umut has been working for four years at WentWest (Western Sydney Primary Health Network) in a role where he worked closely with healthcare providers, stakeholders, and community organisations to enhance service integration and improve access to primary care. He focused on streamlining referral pathways, facilitating collaboration between health professionals, and supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the primary healthcare system to improve patient outcomes.
Umut has a strong background in stakeholder engagement and primary care coordination, alongside a deep commitment to health system improvement, preventative care, and enhancing community health outcomes. As Umut advances his public health career, he is eager to develop skills in health management, strategic planning, and to understand how key directorates work together to drive effective change and sustainable healthcare solutions.
Umut holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health from The University of Sydney, which has provided him with a strong foundation in health policy, research, and evidence-based practice.
Beginning his second rotation within the internship program, he has identified growth in his practical and technical skills. Looking forward, he is ready to learn about system connectivity, inter-sectoral collaboration, and growing interoperability within the health sector.
In his spare time, Umut enjoys bouldering, gaming, hiking, and watching films. As much as he loves working to improve public health outcomes, he knows he needs to remain active to look after his own wellbeing too.
Lucy is completing her internship with the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, a NSW Health specialty network that provides healthcare to adults and young people involved in the forensic mental health and criminal justice systems.
Lucy has a clinical background in physiotherapy and has worked across both regional and metropolitan hospitals. Lucy’s exposure to the inequities faced by vulnerable populations sparked a strong interest in addressing system level challenges and improving access to care for marginalised communities.
As a second year intern, Lucy is keen to apply her clinical knowledge, compassion, and growing experience in health management to improve operational efficiency and patient outcomes. Through her master’s degree and internship placements, she has developed a particular interest in strategic change and brings strengths in stakeholder engagement, project management, and systems thinking. She is driven by a commitment to equity and patient centred care and is motivated to pursue a career in strategic leadership and health system improvement. Lucy is also proud to represent her fellow interns as one of the Health Management Internship Program representatives on the ACHSM NSW State Branch Council.
Outside of work, Lucy is passionate about health and fitness and enjoys swimming, running, and hiking. She also values travelling and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Catherine is a second year intern at the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI). She has completed rotations with the Emergency Care Institute and the Design Capability and Experiential Evidence teams, and is currently working within Strategy and Planning.
She serves on the Board of the Young Professionals’ Network at 1 Reserve Road, supporting networking and professional development opportunities for over 600 young professionals across the Ministry of Health and NSW Health Pillars.
Catherine holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) (Hons I, University Medal) and has practiced across critical, acute, rehab, and outpatient settings. While working clinically, she developed a strong interest in quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice with the aim of improving patient and provider experiences and outcomes.
She also holds a Master of Health Leadership and Management/Master of Public Health (With Excellence) from UNSW and has co authored published research papers with University of Sydney academics on the effects of exercise on chronic lung disease and Parkinson’s disease.
Catherine is motivated to develop her capabilities in project management, strategy, and change management and to help drive meaningful improvements for clinicians, health consumers, and the community at large. Outside work, Catherine enjoys quality time with family and friends, consuming podcasts, comedy, and movies, and cooking.
Hisham is completing his second year placement with WentWest, the Primary Health Network (PHN) for Western Sydney. He is currently undertaking his third rotation across the Strategic Commissioning and Insights and Strategy, Impact and Community Development directorates. In this role, he contributes to website redevelopment initiatives, procurement and contract management activities, and the expansion of Healthcare Neighbourhoods.
Alongside the internship, Hisham is completing a Master of Health Services Management at Griffith University, further strengthening his strategic, operational and leadership capabilities. He is strongly motivated by opportunities to drive healthcare transformation, with a particular focus on improving patient access, equity and system-wide integration.
Hisham holds a Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Sydney and has established a diverse career in the private dental sector. He has worked as a registered Oral Health Therapist and in practice management roles across multiple dental practices, developing expertise in clinical governance, financial management and patient-centred care. This combination of clinical and administrative experience has provided him with a well-rounded understanding of the challenges and opportunities within primary healthcare.
Through the ACHSM HMIP, Hisham aims to deepen his expertise in health system reform, policy development and healthcare leadership. He is committed to using his professional background and postgraduate training to improve access to care and strengthen health outcomes, and views the program as a platform to grow as a future healthcare leader within the Australian health system.
Outside of work, Hisham enjoys spending time with his young family and is an avid follower of soccer, rugby league and Formula 1.
