Fellowship

Applications for the 2023 ACHSM Fellowship Program are closed.

Fellowship is the highest membership category awarded in the College. It is a significant professional achievement and is awarded by the College to those individuals who have demonstrated to their peers that they have the knowledge, attitudes, conceptual and communication skills to be recognised as senior managers and leaders in the health and aged care industries. Fellowship within the ACHSM is recognised both nationally and internationally and it demonstrates an ongoing commitment to excellence in health service management.

Fellows provide leadership across the spectrum of public, private and not for profit organisations, in the areas of acute, primary and long term care, and health improvement. Fellows are engaged in the areas of tertiary education and research, policy development and government service, professional services and project management. The awarding of Fellowship to a College member recognises the commitment to research, continuing professional development and learning, and application of knowledge in health services management they demonstrate.

Griffith University online portal for Fellowship Program

The ACHSM Fellowship Program Online Portal is proudly sponsored by Griffith University. The portal provides the opportunity for candidates to access readings via the Griffith University Library which delivers the readings to the Fellowship Candidate digitally for reading that way, downloading or printing.

The portal also hosts a number of online threaded Web Discussions (known as Discussion Boards or Discussion Forums) where Candidates and their Study Coordinators can interact in an online discussion with the agenda being driven by the Study Coordinators guiding a discussion or a Candidate's enquiry, reflection or observation to be shared with others in their study group. This allows Study Coordinators and Candidates to interact more frequently, should they wish to, between the monthly meetings of the study group.

The online portal is hosted on Griffith University servers through Griffith's online learning platform "Blackboard". The functionality of Blackboard has been harnessed to allow the interaction between Candidates and Study Coordinators and to provide access to anyone wishing to pursue candidature for Fellowship from any place that has access to the internet.  Because it is web-based, the online portal adjusts to users' devices running Microsoft Windows, Apple iOS computers or Android on laptops, tablets and smartphones.

Usage statistics show a high uptake among the Candidates from last year and it is good to see ACHSM forge the way in online learning for emerging leaders. There are many opportunities to provide a similar online learning experience in the ongoing and professional development of health leaders.
