We are delighted that Dr Lynne McKinlay, Senior Medical Educator, Cognitive Institute has agreed to be our August national webcast presenter.
Burnout – how will I know if I have a problem at my place?
Burnout in health professionals is considered by some to be a worldwide “epidemic”, with rates being recorded in medicine twice as high as in other fields. It poses a serious threat to the health and careers of affected clinicians, and studies have linked burnout to an increase in unprofessional behaviour, lower patient satisfaction and increases in major medical errors. There is also a cost to the healthcare system, with absenteeism, increased staff turnover and reduced productivity.
This webcast will provide an overview of the literature on the prevalence and impacts of burnout, and insights into how health service managers can identify if there is a problem in their workplace.
