The Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) is calling for applications for the Health Management Internship Program (HMIP) in Queensland from January 2017.

The purpose of the HMIP is to further increase the potential of skilled, high-potential, entry-level health service managers and is well-positioned to develop the middle management tier in the healthcare sector.

The program is delivered by the ACHSM to management Interns employed by placement organisations in the health sector. The program requires that interns rotate through different ‘departments’ every six months to provide varied experiences.

Management interns also complete a Master in Health Administration (MHA) with La Trobe University. This degree is fully funded by the placement organisation as part of the program.

This is a two-year part-time course undertaken through external education. Candidates can apply for the HMIP if they already have a postgraduate degree in a relevant health field (ie health science, health service management, health management, health administration or international health management). If a candidate has already attained this degree , they can opt out of this aspect, including the fee.
