Health Management Internship Program (NSW)

Applications for the 2019 intake in NSW are now closed.

The Health Management Internship Program (HMIP) offers committed, high-potential Interns the opportunity to develop the skills, capabilities and knowledge required to start a career in managing the challenges and complexities of health service delivery across NSW. The program includes:
  1. Employment in a NSW Health organisation, gaining skills and knowledge through supervised structured workplace experience
  2. An industry-recognised postgraduate academic qualification in Health Administration
  3. Professional development activities which offer Interns the opportunity to prepare themselves for a career managing the challenges and complexities of health service delivery across NSW  in public, private and not for profit organisations.

NSW HMIP Graduation 2018

The 2018 NSW HMIP graduation was held on Thursday 19 April at the Ivy CBD Hotel, Sydney. It was a night of celebrating the achievements of the nine Health Management Interns who successfully completed the Program.

The opening address was given by Dr Tim Smyth, Health Law Consultant, who spoke about five key areas for emerging health service managers to remember as they embark on their careers.

The Kevin Dodd Oration was given by Brian Johnston, who was fortunate to have known and worked with Kevin for many years. He was able to speak about Kevin and health management from a truly personal perspective.

The graduand response was given by outgoing 2nd Year Jessica Maricante, who spoke on behalf of the graduating class, reflecting on 8 Life Lessons Learned through the HMIP.
