Nonie is one of the management interns of Victoria in 2019. Her first placement is at Dental Health Services Victoria, under the Centre for Applied Oral Health Research and Evaluation, to undertake work on the Value Based Health Care initiative.
Nonie has a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) from Monash University. During the honours year she completed a qualitative research project that examined the lived experience of obesity in the Chinese population in Victoria. Nonie is also a registered pharmacist having practised at a variety of community and hospital pharmacies since graduating from The University of Sydney with a Master of Pharmacy.
Keen to gain all round experiences in public health, health policy, operational management, strategic planning and project management, Nonie hopes to develop the necessary management skills and leadership qualities to become a valued member of the health sector of tomorrow.
Simonne Collins is an Australian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) intern who joined the program in 2019. Her current placement is at Goulburn Valley Health working in the clinical operations team based at Shepparton hospital.
Simonne has a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice from La Trobe University. She has also recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Health) via Flinders University.
Prior to joining the program Simonne worked as an Occupational Therapist in Australia and the United Kingdom. She has experience working within community health, emergency, acute and subacute hospital settings.
Throughout the internship program Simonne wants to further develop her skills and experience in managing the complexities of health service delivery. She’s passionate about making positive changes to patient care, service integration and accessibility throughout her career.
Steve is joining the internship program in 2019. His first placement is at the Department of Health and Human services in the Blood, Pharmaceuticals, Organ and Tissue Donation Unit.
Steve completed his Bachelor of International Studies (International Relations) from Deakin University in 2018 after four years of serving in the Army. Prior to joining the program Steve worked for RSL Victoria and Carlton and United Breweries in operations and HR respectively.
Steve joined the program to turn his interest in healthcare into a career where he hopes to be able to improve health outcomes for all Australians. He is particularly passionate to increase access to care and services for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Matthew started the internship program in 2019. His first placement is with West Gippsland Health Group in Warragul, Victoria.
Matthew studied a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology from Deakin University. Prior to joining the program Matthew worked at Cabrini Health at both their Rehabilitation sites and private practice.
Matthew joined the program to develop and acquire practical and leadership skills to successfully implement projects and to influence those at the front line of health care to be innovative and deliver excellence in healthcare. Matthew hopes the program will broaden his scope as a professional and to make a positive change for the health and wellbeing of all Australians.
Jass is a first-year intern currently doing her second placement at the Department of Health and Human Services- Rural Division. Her first placement was at Cabrini Malvern. She has a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and has recently completely her Master’s in Health Administration from Curtin University of Technology (WA).
Jass joined the ACHSM Internship program to get practical experience in Health Leadership and Management to enhance her understanding of the internal and external forces that influence healthcare projects and reforms throughout the Australian health system.
Working across various organizations as part of the internship will allow Jass to have a much broader understanding of the healthcare system at a strategic and an operational level which will complement her clinical experience allowing her to pursue a career within health management with a focus on workforce planning and education.
Yang is joining the internship program in 2019. His first placement will be in Quality and Patient Experience at Ambulance Victoria.
Yang has a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and Graduate Certificate of Pharmacy Practice from Monash University. Prior to joining the program Yang worked at the Alfred Hospital as a Pharmacy Resident.
Yang is especially interested in health economics and health policy. He joined the program to gain practical experience working in the broader healthcare system, and to enhance his leadership and management abilities. He is hoping to use the skills and knowledge developed from the program to enhance health service delivery and improve allocative efficiency of healthcare resources in Victoria.
Peta joined the internship program in in 2019. Her first placement will be at Latrobe Regional Hospital, Traralgon.
Peta has a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) from Monash University. Prior to joining the program she worked as a dietitian in Aboriginal health in a remote community before moving into a management role in a general practice clinic.
Peta joined the program to gain a breadth of experience and explore the many opportunities that a health management career has to offer. She aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the health care system and further develop her leadership and project management skills to become an effective health leader.
